My birthday…23 years old

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, ‘I used everything you gave me’. -Erma Bombeck

A new day has started
One year older I turned

I chose to celebrate my age a bit differently this time
So I sat down and wrote this poem, rhyme by rhyme

And so, as I wake up to greet twenty three years
I look not in sorrow, but in happy tears

Thank you God for giving me this beautiful day
I trust that you will make it special in every way

I made it this far because of you, Lord
And further still may I go in your graces, oh God

One more candle on my birthday cake this year
The more they become, the more I fear

As I count all my blessings
And remember all my failings

I thank you, God, that I have made it this far
My light, as ever, shining as bright as a star

As my unknown future opens up to me
This I promise, I will strive to be what I can be

A special thank you to all my family and friends
Whose love and support I appreciate to no end

You have stood by me through thick and thin
And I know you would do the same, yet again

Thank you, God, for one more year granted
For giving me the chance to do what I wanted
