2013, to an awesome year

“Insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

Albert Einstein

2013. A new year. 359 days left. 8616 hours. 516960 minutes. 31017600 seconds. See how easy that was. Really simple, right? Just a few multiplications here and there and voila, I have 2013 all figured out. If only 2013 was going to be that easy, I would be a really happy man now. But with all the pitfalls and stumbles encountered in 2012, I can only expect that 2013 will be more of the same, if not worse.

🙂

So I guess you wonder why I am smiling. It really is simple, through all the highs and lows of 2012, there was also much joy to be found in 2012. Through the lows, there were also amazing highs. That’s what gives me a smile, the knowledge and hope that 2013 will give me even more highs than lows, that this year will be an awesome one for me. As per the lyrics of one of my favorite songs last year, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger…”

First of all, I make a passionate plea to all you, my fellow Kenyans. Let 2013 be the year the world remembers us for holding the most democratically free and fair elections ever witnessed. Let 2013 be the year that Kenya is held up as a model of peaceful elections around the world. And most importantly, let us make 2013 a year of healing, of forgiveness so that as a phoenix rises from the ashes, we may rise from the dark history of the past into a new and brighter dawn.

Arsenal! My dear Arsenal! What I would not give for 2013 to be a successful year for us! Probably won’t happen, but a man is allowed to dream, isn’t he? 2012 was a year with very few good memories for Gunners. It is my prayer that at the very least, we be rewarded with more good memories than bad this year.

My aims for the year. Well here they are

  • Better grades in campus. (For once ad like a transcript that doesn’t scare the hell out of me because of how bad it is). Guess am going to have to start reading seriously 😦
  • Av got me an awesome band of friends, but there can never be too much of a good thing. So here’s to making more good friends this year.
  • Hoping that my wish this year comes to fruition; that they develop some kind of matatu or taxi service to Chiromo from the hostels. Seriously, that looong walk is killing me. Back me up here, Arnold.
  • Rock, rock and more rock! Avril Lavigne, Maroon 5, Skillet, Evanescence…let’s make 2013 a rock-tastic year.
  • Of course, lest I forget, The Vampire Diaries. (I know, look at him so obsessed over a TV program, pathetic, sad, idiotic…blah blah blah). I cannot wait for January 17th (mark your calendars) when TVD resumes… 😀
  • This shall be the year of IMAX for me. So many movies I have to watch. Man of Steel (cue Superman fanatic here), The Hunger Games 2…and of course top of the list The Hobbit 2. Emma, me and you have a busy year ahead of us.
  • Lastly, to give all my loyal followers and fans more from this beautiful mind of mine :-). Except more, better and crazier blog posts from me this beautiful year 2013.

So back to the quote I made at the beginning of this article. I urge you all to make that your motto for 2013. Whatever you have been doing that hasn’t been working, don’t expect it to start working now. Change! Breathe a wave of fresh air into your life. Do things differently, and you just might be surprised how much better your life becomes. Be the change that you want to see in your life.

Finally, to all my family I pray that you have a happy 2013. Dad, Mom, Sarah, Rispa, all my cousins and aunts, may all your wishes and desires of 2013 be granted. To all my friends (too many to mention in this wee little blog of mine), I hope that you have a rocking 2013, one that you will remember for all the right reasons.

As you go forth into 2013, do whatever makes you happy. Forget what others think about you. It doesn’t matter. Go for what you want and make no apologies about it. I won’t! Stop worrying about life and actually live it. Have the 2013 that you want. See you all on the brighter side of life.

I would love to hear what you want to do this year. Share your thoughts with me below…

PS: Whatever I did to you, Mr. Cupid, I apologize. Please do spare me a glance this year…
